It's a Season thing

I've just had my next-door-colleague in here and she's also thinking about giving up her rut and doing something new and different. I think it might be the seasons messing with our heads. Seasons change regularly, so why can't we?

It will be nothing new for me to do a career-shift. My first working years were spent as a cheesemaker, developing from scratch a new cheese factory on a wine/dairy farm in the area. They closed it after 2 years as a cost-cutting thing, but it was fun while it lasted. I love hard physical work, and was the skinniest I'll ever be (I suspect) working at cheesemaking. The fact that you had to dodge cows (and a rather gigantic bull) on your path between buildings was an added bonus. I may blog some of my experiences there sometime.

And after that I got into admin as a secretary - something I vowed not to do at the time I left school. I hated the idea of being stuck behind a desk all day, inside and not outside, etc. And 9 years later, here I sit - sedentary, unfit, addicted to the internet.

Some have been here doing the same thing for 28 years - whoah!!!! That's pretty sad... :) Me, well I get itchy feet every few months, wanting a change of scene, something different, something to get me excited about life in general again.

My colleague and I have no idea what we want to do. Just that we want a change. Perhaps it's just something in the Autumn air, egging us on to do what our hearts love, what our minds desire.

The sad thing is we'll probably both just settle back into our ruts, and never really make any big changes...
