Ode to Rain

Parched and tossing
I awake to your siren song

"Come out and breathe deeply
Watch my diamonds travel
Down fence and leaf
Across the ferns
Seeping and sweeping
Dust settled
Rivulets"

The world a shroud of mist
Raindrop footprints tapping

Breathe in

Within a day - hours
Withered grass shocks green
Thirsty soil drinking deep
Birds in sodden plumage
Huddle on my roof
Toes in the gutter stream

Heat quenched
Air moist
Windows drip and run

Winter
Rain
Cool, refreshing greys

I've missed you
