The Month of June

There's something really strange going on this year. If the first day of a particular month is bad, the rest of the month is simply more of the same. If the first day of a month is divine, the rest of the month goes swimmingly.

June has started not well at all.

There's a South African expression - kak en drama (k&d) - that applies here in spades. Just when you think you're nearly done with one battle, another has reared its ugly head. Some months it's simply never-ending. And that's June for you. Between the cars, the finances, the struggle here and the sukkel there, it's a bit like a 30-day drowning session!

But there are bright spots, respite from the tug and pull of junk that threatens to swamp you every day. There's the warm fuzzies, the sudden shock of happiness deep down, the drenching moments of pure joy that swamp you head to toe and have you grinning like an idiot. That makes the rest of the k&d bearable. Without those, I doubt I could face the month ahead.
