Magnetic

It's amazing how work attracts work. Take this morning for instance. I arrived with a long to-do list, everything from major website upgrade to major computer upgrade, along with my official job-title stuff which requires much running at this time of the year.

No sooner do I sit down and more work comes knocking on my door - a pile of little tasks, but ones that eat away at my time. Other people's work that has somehow spilled over into my area of responsibility. Or things that have been half-done that I need to carry to completion - one of which will take at least 3 hours.

Yet one can sit and have no work at times - and never attract anything extra to do!

I suspect work has magnetic properties. The busier you are, the more stuff will end up in your lap. Until it gets to the point where you're not even sure where to start!

As for me - I'm starting with a really really big task first. One that may take me the whole day. One of those overflow tasks that I didn't plan to do today - but which, once out of the way, will clear the schedule considerably. Which will, of course, attract more work....
